The Sawnee Creek Pump Station serves the drainage basin (6,445 acres) and pumps 3.9 MGD (2,706 gpm) per the City of Cumming’s Sewer Master Plan.

The Sawnee Creek Pump Station includes three 133-HP Flygt Model CP-3300 submersible pumps. GA Industries Checktronics Check Valves were installed to reduce pump shutdown surges. A 275 kW standby generator provides continuous operation during power failures.  The 12-foot diameter wet well provides substantial storage for the ultimate flow requirement.

The Sanders Road Pump Station serves several commercial developments in the eastern portion of the City of Cumming’s service area and was built by the City of Cumming in 2007 for a cost of $883,000.

The Sanders Road Pump Station includes two 88-HP Flygt Model CP-3300 submersible pumps. The 8-inch force main serving the station connects to a parallel 6-inch and 12-inch force main at the intersection of Sanders Road and Buford Dam Road. Currently, wastewater is pumped through the 8-inch and 6-inch force main providing approximately 400 gpm of capacity. Ultimately, the pump station will be able to pump approximately 750 gpm using the 12-inch force main.

The Union Station Pump Station will initially serve several identified residential developments totaling 721 units and pump approximately 616 gpm. This pump station will ultimately serve the drainage basin and be required to pump 2 MGD (1,380 gpm) per Forsyth County Water and Sewer Department. Provisions were made in the current pump station design to allow for upsizing the pump station to meet the future needs with minimal costs.

The proposed force main from the Union Station Pump Station ties onto an existing 10″ force main that runs along Shiloh Road. The force main is 10″ DIP and runs approximately 1,050 feet to the tie-on point at Shiloh Road. The existing 10″ force main is used by the Shiloh Road Pump Station and pumps directly to the Fowler Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. One design parameter for the Union Station Pump Station was that the Shiloh Road Pump Station must be able to pump at least 500 gpm when both pumps operate concurrently.

The Union Station Pump Station includes two 100-HP Flygt Model CP-3300 submersible pumps.

The Samples Road Pump Station initially served three schools (two elementary and one middle). It will ultimately serve the drainage basin (3,650 acres) and be required to pump 2.6 MGD (1,800 gpm) per the City of Cumming’s Sewer Master Plan

The initial phase of the Samples Road Pump Station includes two 130-HP Flygt Model CP-3300 submersible pumps. The pump station will ultimately be a triplex station with the installation of one additional 130-HP pump. GA Industries Checktronics Check Valves have been installed to reduce pump shutdown surges. A 275 kW standby generator provides continuous operation during power failures. The 12-foot diameter wet well provides substantial storage for the ultimate flow requirement.

A retaining wall was required to be constructed around the pump station in order to raise the equipment above the 100-year flood elevation. The PS did not have any issues during the September, 2009 flooding in the Atlanta area. Due to the sensitive location, the building, generator and jib crane were painted brown to blend in with the surrounding area.

Construction of the Samples Road Pump Station was completed September of 2009 with a contract amount of $942,000.

The Gravitt Road Pump Station serves several residential developments in the northern portion of the City of Cumming’s service area and includes two 88-HP Flygt Model Flygt Model CP-3300.

The Troublesome Creek Influent Pump Station serves the Sun City Peachtree Development plus will serve future adjacent development.

The pump station was constructed by Southern Champion at a cost of $872,000.
